Were you ever fat, sad, still living with your parents, a huge T.B.S. fan, and fat? Yes?
Well, then you were probably “emo.” Don’t be ashamed. We all have the stretch marks and expired live journal/xanga accounts to prove it.
However, today’s lines have blurred and its difficult to correctly judge and classify your peers simply on appearance and music tastes.
Here’s where SomethingAwful.com saves the day. Their Field Guide to North American Hipsters Vol. 1 spells out exactly what you need to know when choosing sides.
Feeling awkward, annoyed but still a bit intrigued? Well, its probably because you oh so stereotypically fit into one of these neat categories.
But rest assured, when the economy completely collapses and the world finally comes to a bitter end, you’ll know what stupid suburban subculture you’ll fight for.

Since their first show in 1989, The Mummies have been notorious for their wreckless antics on stage and their purely rock and roll sound.
Just recently announced, The Mummies are going back on tour!
These garage punks have already sold out two shows at Maxwell’s in New Jersey but there might still be hope. Last I heard, tickets are still available for the following day in Brooklyn’s Southpaw on June 10th.
“Remember that show in Spain last year? That one and only show we were gonna do? Yeah, well we lied. And if you don’t like it, put yer ear buds back in and go listen to yer Bob Fuckin’ Dylan again.” (via Brooklyn Vegan)
It should be awesome.
