OK Billboard…Whatever (Top 10 Indie Artists to Watch)

Everyone loves top ten lists for the same reasons everyone loves rock n’ roll journalism in general: it’s journalism for people who don’t really like (and maybe don’t really know how to) read. But, goddamn Billboard and their “Top 10 Indie Artists to Watch.”

Apparently this is who they see as up and coming for 2008 and beyond!

2) Conor Oberst

3) Little Jackie

4) Aventura (pictured)

5) Kid Sister

6) The Hold Steady

7) Chester Gregory

8) The Faint

9) Dragon Force

10) CSS

I know what you’re probably thinking: “What? Really?”

The only artists I find worth paying attention to on this list are Kid Sister, The Hold Steady, The Faint, and maybe Dragon Force.

My top ten list would have included:

Ponytail, Fucked Up, Atlas Sound, Vivian Girls, Crystal Antlers, No Age, Fleet Foxes, The Walkmen, Ungdomskulen, and…Prince (just for kicks).
