Quit searching! Jenchoi has gone south for the weekend.
Back on my old stomping grounds in Williamsburg, I’ll be wandering from today until Sunday, when I make my way back to “Bean Town.” Why the random journey?
Last night at Studio B, Crystal Castles and Woodhands played a free show with DJ sets by Frankie Chan and Radioclit.
With a line that wrapped around itself, fellow journalist and friend Jen Pelly (from the Pelly Twins) and I abandoned Studio B and headed to Greenpoint for a good ol’ punk show. I made some friends with the bands so expect a preview or two in the future. Acts included Florida’s Rational Anthem who will be playing in Boston sometime in the near future.
Tonight, it’s Allston in Brooklyn (or Bushwick?) with a signature Allston rager/ live show.
What’s going on tomorrow? Coney Island’s Annual Mermaid Parade at 2PM! This year’s King Neptune, Rev. Billy of the Church of Stop Shopping and this year’s Queen Mermaid, Savitri D., who fasting from tomorrow until 6PM on June 24th to protest the destruction of Coney Island from its once grand 60 acres to nine.
It’s good to be back. Below is one of my favorite Mixel Pixel (a Brooklyn band) songs, “Coney Island Bound Trash Train.” Enjoy!
